Who are Cat Rescue Newcastle?
Cat Rescue Newcastle (CRN) is a rescue group formed to rescue and re-home
cats that otherwise would not have the opportunity.
CRN began its life as part of Dog Rescue Newcastle (DRN), a local rescue group established to
care for and re-home abandoned, neglected or abused dogs.
In 2010, in response to the many cats that were found to be in similar circumstances,
DRN began to take on cats as well.
In 2012 the decision was made for Cat Rescue Newcastle to operate as a ‘seperate-group’
of Dog Rescue Newcastle, the rescue and re-homing of cats
has grown so much over the last few years, it has become unwieldy to have the two completely together!
Cat Rescue Newcastle runs independently of other groups with our own funding.
C.R.N still has close links with other groups such as Dog Rescue Newcastle
working along side to ensure a better future for the many companion animals in need.
How we operate
Cat Rescue Newcastle is a group of concerned volunteers dedicated
to the rescue of abandoned, neglected or abused cats.
We rescue cats from death row at local pounds and put them into loving foster homes
until we can find permanent homes for them. We do not have a
‘facility’ where cats are kept – all cats are cared for by volunteers in their own homes.
