Cat Rescue Newcastle is a non-profit organisation and only exists because of our wonderful and dedicated volunteers and larger community. We survive purely on the generous donations that are gifted to us and our rescue cats, for which we are extremely grateful!
There are many ways you can help us: - Financial Assistance -
Our vets bills are thousands of dollars each month plus there are many other expenses for food and supplies. All of our funding comes from donations and adoption fees, so we are always grateful for monetary contributions. Donations can also be made by direct deposit into the following bank account. The account for donations is Newcastle Permanent: BSB: 650 000 Account: 506829801 - Become a Foster Carer -
Our work relies entirely on foster carers who provide temporary homes for the pets we rescue from the pound until we find permanent homes for them. Every carer allows us to save more cats from death row. Being a foster carer is a great way to have a pet without the expenses and long term commitment of owning one. All you need to provide is shelter, food, a secure home and love for your foster cat in need. Rescue pays for all the veterinary and medical expenses. You can even choose the type of cat you would like to foster. It can be hard saying goodbye to your foster cat but just remember that your foster cat will go to a great home and then you can save another cat from death row. You can always adopt your foster pet if you really can't bear to say goodbye. If you are considering being a Carer, please take the first step and e-mail! You will need to sign a Foster Agreement Form before you start fostering. Not sure wether fostering is right for you? Ask for one of our "Information for foster carers Booklets". You can stop fostering at any time. Can't foster? You can still help. There are many other ways you can help cats in need. |
- Volunteer - We are a small and friendly group of volunteers, we always welcome anyone who wants to help in any capacity and it is always greatly appreciated. Just some of the ways you can help: If you drive and have a vehicle, we are always in need of people to transport cats to vet appointments, pick up from the pound, deliver supplies to foster carers, etc. We can supply a pet carrier if needed. If you like pottering in your shed and making things, you could build cat scratching posts, cat runs, cat cages, etc and donate them to us. If you are into crafts and sewing you could, sew cat pillows, beds, blankets, cat collars and toys etc. If you are into photography you may like to take photo's of foster cats available for adoption. Great pictures really help the cats stand out. We regularly have fundraising BBQs and always need plenty of volunteers. If you are interested in helping at a BBQ please contact us and we'll contact you when our next event if planned. - Donate Goods - We are always in need of all necessities of items such as cat food, kitten food, flea/worm treatments, kitty litter, litter trays, cat beds & toys, blankets, sheets, towels and cat carriers/crates. If you see any of these items on sale, please consider purchasing some to donate to us. If we can receive these items as donations then we don't have to use our limited funds to buy them and we can reserve our money to pay our vets. Please send us an email telling us where you are and we'll reply with the address of one of our foster carers or volunteers so you can deliver your donation. If you can't deliver to us, we may be able to arrange pick up from you. |
