Firstly, allow me to apologise for not posting here for a long time. Life got pretty crazy very quickly towards the end of last year and I had no time to post on my favourite blog. However, I am back now and ready to take on the new year again doing what I love! I have lots of good news to report on!

During my absence for the last few months we have managed to successfully rehome a few of our foster cats into loving homes. The following cats are now living out their lives surrounded by love and cuddles:

MAX

Max had been in our care for a very long time. Almost 6 months! We're not quite sure why he struggled finding his forever home as he is just a gorgeous little love bug who loves to snuggle and play. His story is a happy one though as he was adopted into his forever home 2 weeks ago! Good luck, Max (now named Hoogy)! We miss you already xxxx

GOOD LUCK, LITTLE ONES!

We want to say a HUGE thank you to Mrs. Penelope Buckley and her wonderful Jumpstart class of 2016 from Swansea High School for their generous donations to our rescue group! It's because of people like them that we are able to do what we do and save lives.

On the first day of 2017 we were lucky enough to score ourselves a last minute Bunnings BBQ spot at the Kotara store! It was out first time ever hosting a BBQ fundraiser and it was a huge success!! We raised some much needed funds to support our small rescue group and the team members at the store were all so supportive and lovely. Thank you, Bunnings Kotara!!
Also a huge thank you to the lady featured in the photo below on the left, Monica. Because this was a very last minute BBQ, our foster carer on the right (Adelle) had very limited time to get organised and only had a small car in which to transport everything. We put out a call for help on our facebook page for someone, anyone with a big car to help transport and Monica was quick to answer our call! We also want to say a massive thank you to those that also answered the call by volunteering their vehicles to us at the last minute. We are supported by a fantastic community and the love was definitely felt!!

Wow! If you managed to read up until this point then thank you haha! That's all we have at the moment. I am aiming to update this blog monthly again now that the crazy side of things has settled for the time being.

As always, thank you for all of your support and we look forward to sharing the new year with all of you as we strive to save as many cats as possible in 2017!!

MEOW~!

Max, Reggie & Ruby

Hello everyone!

This week has been a quieter one for everyone at CRN but we currently have 3 beautiful cats who are ready to be adopted into loving homes.

Meet Max
Picture
Max is currently our longest resident in CRN, having been with us since late August. He is a very special 3-5 year old black & white boy with a huge heart. He prefers to lay in a quiet room and sleep instead of running around playing but he absolutely loves pats! Max would make the best study/reading/watching TV companion as he will cuddle right up to you and purrrr. This little big guy is completely litter trained and isn't fussy when it comes to his food.

If Max sounds like your new best friend then give our girl, Erin a call on 0458727744 to arrange a meeting with Max.

Say Hello to Ruby
Picture
Miss Ruby is currently our youngest cat at CRN. This affectionate little girl is only 9 months old and is so full of life. Her personality ranges from quiet cuddles with a loud purr to a playful little kitten who will make you laugh and smile with her kitten-like ways.

Her carer has had many friends go over and say hello to her which Ruby just loved! Some of these visitors were actually allergic to cats but had no problems around our little Ruby.

If Miss Ruby sound like the perfect companion for you then give our awesome carer, Angus a call on 0425300435 to arrange a meeting.

Meet Reggie
Picture
Our gorgeous ginger, Reggie, is a 2 year old boy who is a bit shy at first but is quick to warm up to those around him. He is a super affectionate boy who provides lots of cuddles and gentle headbutts. In regards to kids and dogs, Reggie is great with them however isn't  a fan of other cats and would prefer to be the only cat in the house. If it is allowed, Reggie loves cuddling up to you on your bed and gently send you to sleep with his beautiful purr and there he will stay until you wake up and he and greet you in the morning.

If Reggie sounds perfect for you then contact our beautiful Bronwyn on 0428334851 to arrange a meet up.

That's  all for this week!

As always, thank you so much for your love and support. It means more to us than you know.

Happily Ever Afters

Hello everyone!

What a week it's been for our gorgeous cats here at Cat Rescue Newcastle! On September 11th we held an Adoption Day at Pets Domain, Charlestown. It was so much fun meeting everyone who came to visit and show off our darling cats. We raised almost $200 for our cats through cupcakes made by our dedicated foster carers and also through a raffle thanks to Yogurtland Cessnock. To everyone who visited us, donated and/or bought a cupcake or raffle ticket, thank you!!

We also have 3 new happy endings to report on. The first happened at our adoption day where we bitter-sweetly said farewell to our beautiful Bobby, now named Bunni. Bobby was rehabilitated and cared for by our awesome Erin who, like all of us, grew to love her sweet nature. Bobby is one special girl who is extremely loved by her new family. These are some photos of Bobby in her new forever home and with her new Mummy, Stephanie. We love you, precious one! Enjoy your new life with your new family!

Our second AND third adoptions are bundled up into one beautiful adoption. The moment we put Shaun and Jimmy on our Facebook page, I think we had a record number of people from all over Australia ring, email and message us about them. And the requests just kept on coming to adopt these gorgeous pure-bred Devon Rex boys. To keep it fair, this adoption was kept on a "first in first dibs" basis and the first people to enquire about Shaun and Jimmy were two lovely ladies from Byron Bay, Lyn & Broni. They were among many who were willing to fly into Newcastle to meet and adopt these boys. Who could blame them?

After talking to our foster carers, Adelle and Wayne, about these boys, Lyn and Broni were on a flight the next day to Newcastle to meet them! Adelle picked them up from the airport and drove them to Wayne's house where they were being cared for. The moment Shaun (darker coloured) saw Lyn & Broni it was love at first sight! Broni knelt down and Shaun went straight up to her and onto her lap as if he new that she was his new Mummy. Have a look at the instant love between these 3!
Picture

Due to Jimmy (lighter coloured) being of a very timid nature, he was a bit more reluctant to come out to say hello as he hid behind the sofa. It wasn't until Lyn & Broni said to Adelle & Wayne that they were definitely going to adopt that Jimmy came out and was placed in his cat carrier. Due to the cats not being able to fly to Brisbane until 2 days later and Lyn & Broni needing to return home that night, Adelle and her fiance decided to look after these boys for two nights and deliver them to the airport themselves. Our foster carers will do anything we can to help our cats find their happily ever afters even if that means organising flights for our cats to catch and deliever them to the airport ourselves. It was definitely a first for Cat Rescue Newcastle but we were more than happy to do it and it couldn't have gone better! Shaun and Jimmy were on a Virgin flight out of Newcastle to Brisbane on Wednesday morning. What a journey for these two cats!
Picture

Lyn and Broni have kept in touch with Adelle and sent her the following picture below of Shaun settling into his new loving environment. Jimmy still remains somewhat timid, keeping to his cupboard for security but has come out for pats and cuddles. That's what we call progress! Great job, ladies! What a gorgeous family they are!! The photo on the right is one that Wayne took of Jimmy before he was adopted, just so you can see his beautiful face!

So, after three successful adoptions and a great adoption day at Charlestown, everyone at Cat Rescue Newcastle are on cloud nine because of the love and support we've been shown! We love what we do and we can't do it without you!

OUR NEXT ADOPTION DAY IS AT PETBARN, WARNERS BAY ON OCTOBER 15TH!

More details to come so watch this space!

Thanks for reading and feel free to comment below! We love reading all your messages.

Good luck to Bobby, Shaun and Jimmy!

Hello all you wonderful rescue enthusiasts!

This week has been pretty exciting for us here at Cat Rescue Newcastle. We welcomed some new volunteers to our rescue brigade and we received some wonderful donations from wonderful people.

Lets begin this week with expressing our sincere gratitude to some excellent people at two well known shops who have raised money for Cat Rescue Newcastle.

Christie and her team at Yogurtland Australia, Cessnock. Through the amazing generosity of the community out Cessnock way, Christie was able to raise over $100 through an awesome donation box which is located on the main counter of the shop. We cannot thank you enough!

We also have the amazing team at Big W at Jesmond for their outstanding efforts! Through hosting a cupcake fundraiser for Cat Rescue Newcastle, they were also able to raise just over $100. This is such a huge help to all the cats and carers here at CRN and we couldn't be happier or more grateful for your efforts!

One more time... THANK YOU!! MEOW~!!!

Hello all cat lovers and rescue enthusiasts!

First of all let me begin with saying a big HELLO to our existing and new supporters and welcome to the new and improved Cat Rescue Newcastle website! We're excited to have you here so while you're taking a peek around why not leave a comment and say hello. We read and love all comments posted to us :)

What a year 2016 has been so far! The beautiful foster carers at Cat Rescue Newcastle have been working so hard to save all the kitties we can from the pounds. So far we have managed to find purrrfect forever homes for most of them, not including the rescues currently in foster care. We currently have 4 affectionate beauties up for adoption and waiting to meet you. Reggie, Ruby, Bobby and Max are all eager to find their new Mummies and Daddies so if that sounds like you then head on over to our Adopt A Cat link up above and check out these rescue angel's profiles. Be warned! They may melt your heart.

I'd like to take this opportunity to say a GLOBAL thank you to everyone around the world who has supported us due to a recent video of ours that has gone viral. The video showing the affection between a recent rescue, Henry and his volunteer transporter has touched the hearts of people from different reaches of the world including Northern Ireland, The United Kingdom, France, Italy, America, Peru, Japan, Taiwan, China, South Korea and Thailand to name a few. Through your likes and shares of Henry's story on social media, we were able to raise awareness for animals just like Henry still stuck in the pounds and for that we thank you from our hearts. To watch the video, just head to our home page or alternatively you can visit our Facebook page.  So without further ado;

THANK YOU! ~ TAK! ~ MERCI! ~ DANKE! ~ ευχαριστώ! ~ GRAZIE! ~ ありがとうございます! ~ KOP KHUN! ~ 감사합니다 ! ~ 谢谢! ~ Obrigado!

And if I have left anyone out, my apologies. Just comment below and I'll be sure to give you a shout out :)

In addition to our fresh new look, we are also introducing "Cat Of The Month". To kickstart this exciting feature off we have our beloved Max!

~~~CAT OF THE MONTH~~~
Max is a gorgeous boy around 3-5 years of age. He was rescued by our wonderful Charlotte who is lucky enough to have rehabilitated him and loved him at her place of residence since late August. Max may be a bigger boy but he has the heart of a kitten. Constantly wanting your affection, food and cuddles. He loves to play as much as he loves to sleep! As Charlotte has said, "If he has somewhere he can curl up and rest in peace he is happy and sits there purring loudly." That's our Max! Max is fully litter trained and isn't fussy with his food. WIN! If Max sounds like the cat for you then give our girl, Charlotte a call on 0401768123. We love this boy dearly but know he has a forever home out there somewhere ready to shower him in even more love xxx
